UKULELE

In this category you will find various types of ukulele instruments and complete ukulele sets, which include a ukulele case, clip-on tuner, spare ukulele strings, picks or other ukulele accessories. The ukulele is a 4-string musical instrument similar to a small guitar so it is ideal for children to learn to play. It has a sound box and neck with frets and nylon strings. It is played identically to a guitar, but due to the tuning and number of strings, the ukulele's chords look a little different from those of a guitar. Depending on the length of the neck and the number of frets, there are different types of ukulele. The most popular ones are soprano ukuleles, concert ukuleles and tenor ukuleles, although baritone ukuleles and bass ukuleles can also be found. Explore a wide catalog of ukulele instruments and ready-made ukulele sets. The ukulele is an instrument that has returned to favor for a dozen years or so, and has once again become a popular string instrument. The ukulele's very warm sound, low weight and relatively low purchase cost have led to more and more people learning to play this four-string instrument. Interestingly, professional musicians, including Paul McCartney, are also reaching for it. The ukulele is an instrument often used in alternative music, and is perfect for complementing the guitar at campfires and adding variety to the string instrument section in professional music ensembles.

Which ukulele to choose?

Among the ukulele, there are four types of it:

  • soprano ukulele - the most popular ukulele; it is the smallest, and its sound is the most canonical (typical) of the ukulele;
  • concert ukulele - it is a little larger than the soprano ukulele and a little louder; by lengthening the neck and at the same time increasing the width, playing it is even easier;
  • tenor ukulele - is even larger than the concert ukulele, and its sound resembles that of a classical guitar;
  • baritone ukulele - the largest type of ukulele, with a sound most reminiscent of a classical guitar.

The ukulele resembles the classical guitar in construction – however, it is smaller and lighter, the sound box is made of thinner wood, the nylon strings in the ukulele are smaller which results in less tension on the structure of the ukulele – the adjustment rods inside the neck are not applicable. The ukulele is a four-string instrument – only nylon strings are put on it.

Ukulele – a traditional instrument of Hawaii

The ukulele is an instrument that originated in Hawaii but was created by luthiers from Madeira. It became widespread after Hawaii was annexed to the United States when tourism developed in the early 20th century. The ukulele experienced a second wave of popularity after World War II which was interrupted by rising popularity of rock'n'roll and rock.
